INARA fundraiser in New York raises over $20,000

We raised an incredible $20,000 at our fundraising event in New York on September 29!

The event at Keste Pizzeria Wall Street was organized by Melissa Mahtani, a Social TV Producer at CNN. There was wine, pizza, and a silent auction which included prizes such as an African safari, among many others

Our founder Arwa Damon also spoke at the event. She talked about her experience reporting on war zones across the globe, and the inspiration behind her founding of INARA, the story of Youssif, a little Iraqi boy who was burnt. Because people from around the world came together to help him at the time, he is today an eloquent young man who wants to be a doctor to give back and help others like him. "When we come together we can generate profound change in children’s lives,” Arwa told the audience on the night.

Speaking about the event, Arwa said: “It was a great night, and we are so thankful to Melissa for volunteering her time and energy to organize this event, to Keste Pizzeria Wall Street for hosting us, and to everyone who attended.

“These kinds of events are so useful in helping us raise not only money but awareness about our work. As a growing organization, the help of people who volunteer themselves to organize these kinds of events are crucial to our expansion.”
