Two years ago, Rashed’s mother was cooking. For some reason, she fainted. Rashed, who was only one at the time, crawled over to check if his mom was ok. It was at this point that boiling water slipped off the stove, and fell on him.

Rashed was initially helped by UNHCR, who treated the burns on his hand and arm in hospital over three days. The family later saved up to help their son. He had a few surgeries, but the family were dissatisfied with the results.

The family were referred to INARA by UNHCR. He met with Dr. Ghassan Abu Sitta at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) who recommended that the young boy would need a scar release surgery on his left arm in the future. For the moment, he wants to use DuoDERM dressings on Rashed’s burns at first to see how he responds. He will be coming in for regular follow ups over the coming months.

Rashed’s parents are relieved that INARA is helping their son. “No other organization is helping us as INARA is. The fact that our son is getting treatment at AUBMC, the best hospital in Lebanon, is amazing. They treat us so well, without any discrimination, and that helps us so much.”

Your donations have ensured Rashed gets the treatment he needs. For us to help more children we urgently need your support.
