Naiima was only two years old when an airstrike landed on her neighbor’s home. The noise was so loud and frightening that she ran into the kitchen to look for her mother. She knocked a pot of boiling oil off the oven and over her torso, legs and hip.
“Naiima was traumatized that day,” her mother explains to us. “Every time she hears something loud nearby, she becomes so scared. I’ve even noticed that her hair is falling out from all this stress.”
The burns are still fresh. Our doctors at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) recommended specific medication to treat the burns on her torso and leg, which we have provided for the young girl. Her parents will need to apply this onto Naiima for a year. At that stage, we will assess her case to see if surgical interventions may be needed.
